The Green Hell The legendary Nürburgring-Nordschleife, famously known as ‘the Green Hell’, is renowned for its record attempts and at the final leg of the Triple Endurance Run, the Porsche team was not disappointed. Test driver, Lars Kern, conquered the 20.6 km course in a pre-production Taycan in seven minutes, forty two seconds, taking the title of fastest four-door electric car around the gruelling track. Porsche engineers had started driving the Taycan around the Nürburgring-Nordschleife at an early development stage in a simulator, so that they could test and evaluate its performance on a virtual race track. One of the key goals was determining electric energy with thermal management, which form an important contribution to achieving the lap time. Porsche, however, is not resting on its laurels and has ongoing test drives planned for the coming months. “The Taycan is also suitable for race tracks and it convincingly proved that here on the world’s most challenging circuit... Before the Taycan is launched on the market at the end of the year, we will have covered over six million test kilometres across the globe.” StefanWeckbach, Vice President Product Line Taycan
